La Garçonne

I think even the girliest of girls can agree that sometimes, it would be nice to think like a guy when it comes to putting an outfit together. Like, “I think I’ll wear grey today.” And instead of worrying about whether their outfit “pops”, they just layer all the grey things they have in their closet, AND they get to wear comfortable shoes. This outfit is my ode to that kind of tomboy – I mean – garçonne – nonchalance. Read More »

La Petite Robe Noire

As you may know if you follow me on Instagram, I visited Paris with my husband recently. I usually do photo shoots when I am there, but have tended to avoid the big, iconic backgrounds like the Eiffel Tower or one of the many beautiful bridges in the city because that always seemed so cliché to me. Bonjour from sunny(ish) Paris! Since I’m here, I thought it fitting for this week’s fashion post to channel that cool, sexy Parisienne vibe. The trick to dressing like one is to look as if you didn’t think too much about your outfit (even though you did), to mix high with low brands, and to blend styles (in this case, girly with edgy). If all else fails, throw on a black leather moto jacket. Every woman should own a jacket like this one! It’s the easiest way to turn an outfit from ordinary to extraordinary, in particular if you pair it in unexpected ways. Here, I thought this flirty short skirt with the ultra-feminine sandals needed a little punch – the easiest way to accomplish that was to throw the jacket and a sporty bag named “Boy” into the mix. The result is an outfit that’s perfect for a café date for drinks (coffee or better yet, champagne) and/or dinner entre amis.
