LBD

La Petite Robe Noire

As you may know if you follow me on Instagram, I visited Paris with my husband recently. I usually do photo shoots when I am there, but have tended to avoid the big, iconic backgrounds like the Eiffel Tower or one of the many beautiful bridges in the city because that always seemed so cliché to me. This time I went full tourist/blogger to get those shots, and I could not be happier with the results. Read More »

VB x Target – The LBD

Victoria Beckham is one of my style icons, so when I heard that she was collaborating with Target (my favorite place to shop for essentials), I was really excited. I was even more enthusiastic when I saw the collection featured on the Target website. Some of these pieces could not have been more perfect for me if I had designed them myself, like this simple little black dress with a white collar and cuffs. Read More »

Camel & LBD Combo

Every girl’s go to for date night is a LBD, am I right? I picked this one up on a recent visit to the new & Other Stories boutique in Georgetown. I love the dress details like its flirty length, the deep-V neckline, the bell sleeves, and the exaggerated waistline with those cute covered buttons. I also love the fact that it cost me less than $100! Read More »

Leather and Chains

Last week, I co-hosted a fashion show in Washington DC showcasing some really talented local designers, including Michelle Gibson.  I wanted to wear an original design for the show, and it was a no-brainer when I tried this dress on. I love the body-hugging style (luckily the one she had hanging in her studio fit me like a glove), and the faux leather fabric turns an otherwise classic silhouette into a modern, sexy look.

Ulla là

Funny thing happened to me on the way to my car in East Hampton. I made my usual detour to my favorite shop in the village, Clic, and fell in love with a dress by Ulla Johnsonthat I might never have looked twice at in a non-summer vacation situation. I mean, flowers, ruffles, and a pouffy mid-length skirt? Not my usual vibe, to say the least. It’s more “Little House on the Prairie” than “Sex in the City” and I hope you all know my preferred zip code by now. Read More »

Femme Fatale

Nothing evokes mystery and fascination more than a woman in a body-con black dresshigh heels, and dark sunglasses. This look was inspired by the confidence, femininity, and class of European women like Catherine Deneuve or Sophia Lauren, who never overdo it when it comes to dressing. This particular dress has a softness to it because of the lace overlay that keeps it looking more femme fatale than dominatrix. Because it’s really the showstopper, I kept the accessories simple. The shoes (check out those old-school heels) and the bag give the look a timeless, classic vibe, but I could easily imagine the same dress paired with strappy sandals like these to add a pop of color. Here, my pop of color was my go-to red lipstick, which is called “Lady Danger.” Need I say more? Read More »

Le Perfect LBD

There is nothing more essential to every woman’s wardrobe than a little black dress (or “LBD” in fashion parlance), and this particular one has become my summer go-to. The loose fit and lightweight silk fabric that breathes makes it perfect for those really hot days and nights when everyone else’s clothes are sticking uncomfortably to their bodies. The silhouette, with it’s low cut top and spaghetti straps, and strategically placed, gam-revealing slits keep the dress looking edgy rather than dowdy. I styled it here for an evening look, with these sexy sandals and a couple of statement accessories. But truth be told, on my recent trip to Paris when the temperatures rose to above 90 degrees (we had to shoot this at 8 pm because it was so hot all day – it was still over 80 degrees!), I walked around in the dress with my favorite flat sandals or white sneakers and a giant tote bag (similar here) carrying – what else – my camera.

Bon weekend everyone! Read More »
