The Marcel Sweater

I have been trying to simplify my wardrobe lately, buying only key pieces that I can style in various ways. This Marcel Sweater from the cult favorite French brand Sézane is the perfect example of a wardrobe staple that can be dressed up or down, depending on my mood. To illustrate my point, I styled the same sweater in three totally different ways. Read More »

Plaid Pencil Skirt – Take Deux

As you may have noticed, I am a sucker for all things plaid at the moment, whether it be a masculine(ish) pant suit or this great faux wrap skirt, I just can’t get enough of this pattern! I loved dressing this skirt up in boss lady style in an earlier post (Take Un – see it here), but I also really like the edgy, tomboy vibe of this look. Read More »

Lady in Red

A few years ago, my husband and I were having Christmas dinner at a very fancy restaurant in Paris, and I saw a woman wearing the most beautiful red silk dress I have ever seen. I immediately recognized it as one of Alessandro Michele’s designs (see a similar iteration here), looked at my husband, and whispered “Gucci” with a sigh. Plaid Pencil Skirt – Take Un

I’m loving the suiting trend this season, especially checkered versions that combine classic silhouettes with whimsical details. This high-waisted, faux wrap skirt from H&M is the perfect example. The fabric, a classic black and white Prince of Wales plaid, is a nod to traditional men’s suiting, while the curve-hugging shape, thigh high slits, and bow at the waist give the skirt a flirty, feminine vibe. Venice Blues

One of the best things about visiting family in California is getting to dress down – like way down. I spend most of my days there in flip flops, a bikini, and some appropriate cover up, and no one blinks an eye! I picked up this street-ready caftan and was ready to go anywhere (with the addition of a few upscale accessories if needed). Read More »

Cherry Bomb

I love to wear barely there slip dresses in summer, especially when they feature flouncy ruffle details like this one does.  The cherry print fabric is an added bonus – just the right touch of whimsy juxtaposed with a sexy, ultra-feminine silhouette. Read More »
