I’m loving the suiting trend this season, especially checkered versions that combine classic silhouettes with whimsical details. This high-waisted, faux wrap skirt from H&M is the perfect example. The fabric, a classic black and white Prince of Wales plaid, is a nod to traditional men’s suiting, while the curve-hugging shape, thigh high slits, and bow at the waist give the skirt a flirty, feminine vibe.
Besides the fit, I love this skirt’s versatility. It can be worn so many ways (stay tuned for part “deux” where I will show you a totally different look with the same skirt), but I kept it simple here. A semi-sheer black silk georgette blouse gives the outfit a sexy, feminine vibe.
I have always loved a good sock bootie and am so glad that they are back in style. I could have gone for a typical stiletto with this outfit, but I think the bootie gives the look an edgier vibe.
I’m usually not much of an accessories person, but I couldn’t resist adding some fun pieces into the mix. I played the girly black and white drop earrings from Bauble Bar and iconic Chanel shoulder bag against my husband’s oversized silver watch and aviators. Love that masculine/feminine mix.
Making a good exit is as important as your entrance, and this thigh high slit sure does the trick! Up next, a way to turn this sexy skirt into a quirky, tomboy outfit detail. Stay tuned!
