You probably know by now how much I love the sleepwear as streetwear (see here and here), and this “romperjama” from my favorite purveyor of loungewear, Feel Good, is no exception. I am in love with the bold red color and easy breezy silhouette – perfect for day or night!
This style is so versatile that it can easily be dressed up or down. I wore it unbelted with a denim jacket to a baseball game recently, and it was perfect (it actually looked like a maxi dress worn that way). The fabric is soft and lightweight, so it doesn’t cling – not an unimportant detail in the sticky heat of DC summers.
It works just as well if you are attending or hosting a dinner party in a posh setting like this one (my new favorite Georgetown restaurant, Boulangerie Christophe ). I decided to stick to an all-red palette (it is, after all, my favorite color) for this casually elegant look since I just so happen to have strappy sandals and some newly acquired tassel earrings in just the right shade.
I added a statement gold cuff from favorite local jewelry designer, Second Daughter to give the outfit a modern, slightly tribal look. That little Nile bag in the neutral shade goes with just about everything, but I especially liked the way that the gold hardware complimented the other gold outfit details.
Learn more about Feel Good Pajamas, a remarkable company led by a group of women who are using their work to do good in the world, in my feature on their pajamas here. Their loungewear is handcrafted in Indonesia by local artisans using traditional methods of cloth making, and a portion of the proceeds from every pajama set sold goes to support the education of underprivileged children in their communities. As if you need another reason to add one of these perfect for summer rompers to your closet!
